Market Street Activation

Fremantle

Lantern in association with Renovo Heritage and Architectural Solutions Australia.

This project investigated a conceptual proposal for the activation of Collie and Market Street, Fremantle. Both of these roads have the potential to act as an extension of Fremantle’s iconic Cappuccino Strip and create the opportunity for diversifying the experiences of individuals as they explore both Collie and Market Street.

The proposal suggests introducing elements to screen Dome cafe’s rear carpark and bin storage area, allowing this corner to become a more vibrant and pleasing part of Fremantle’s tapestry. Providing bike and scooter parking on Collie Street to encourage a reduced vehicle presence. Market Street’s activation proposes the continuation of Gino’s seating around the corner from South Terrace and linking this to a rear seating area for the Tabella restaurant, transforming this area from an underutilised back-of-house into a more dynamic and lively streetscape.
