With the successful completion of the New Administration building at the King’s College the former admin area was to be returned to an early learning classroom. The new classroom naturally brought about higher building student numbers which intern required a new ablution block extension to meet current standards. An extension to the existing verandah area around the building was also undertaken to allow covered external access to the toilets from all classrooms. The new extension draws on the buildings existing form and roof line while using different materials to give the classroom block a more modern aesthetic. Translucent roof sheeting allows light into the corridor between the old and new buildings, creating an aesthetic “pause” separating the new and old materials.
