The King’s College required a new undercover to accommodate students during break periods and host small year assemblies. After on site analysis and consultation with the client the proposed location was selected to create new sheltered connection between the existing buildings. The chosen location had inherent difficulties as well as opportunities when considering the form of the proposed structure. While in plan the space seems to be a simple square the three-dimensional reality was that two buildings with multiple roof angle and pitches required a flexible yet well resolved form. The resulting design solution came in an interesting geometric form by matching the surrounding roof planes.
