Clinton has over 30 years of experience in the architectural and construction industry which includes specific project experience with State Government agencies, the National Trust (WA), various Local Governments, educational institutions and private clients.
Clinton has experience in Architecture, Urban planning, interior design, landscape projects and project management. Every project no matter how large or small considers the environmental and social values to ensure truly sustainable outcomes. Clinton also volunteers his time to The Town of East Fremantle Council Design Advisory Committee, is a member of The Australian Institute of Architects as well as The Association for Learning Environments Australasia.
Prior to the establishment of Lantern Architecture Clinton was the founding Director of the successful multi-award winning architectural practice Matthews Architecture. Clinton was the Managing Director of Matthews Architecture from 1999-2013. Clinton sold his shares in that practice and took a twelve month sabbatical spending time with his children and surfing various parts of Australia and Indonesia.
Clinton’s experience extends beyond both architecture and planning. Clinton has also spent a significant portion of his career in the industry as a project manager and is now also a Registered Builder. Clinton’s experience in the building industry brings a vast knowledge and sensibility towards the building construction, materials, construction programming, project delivery and cost.
Clinton also successfully completed an apprenticeship as a Boiler Maker first class welder in the ship building industry. This wealth of knowledge and experience provides an invaluable understanding of what is required to ensure the successful delivery of complex projects. As well as communicating ideas on site with contractors, this unique set of skills and qualifications places Clinton in a unique position to understand the consequences of detailing from as early as the concept design phase of a project.
